Set task properties

You can set the properties of a task by double-clicking on it, or by selecting it in the list and clicking on Edit task in the Task tab of the ribbon.

This will bring up the Edit Task form.  In this form you can:

Delete the task by clicking on the Delete button.  If you have completed a task, consider completing instead of deleting it.  A completed task will be removed from your list, but it can be reactivated; see the topic Complete and reopen tasksDeleting a task will also delete all its child tasks, all time related to the task and its child tasks, all copies of emails and contacts copied to the task or its child tasks, and the related Microsoft To Do tasks (however, it won't delete the original emails and contacts that were copied to the task from Outlook, and it won't delete linked documents).  You may be able to restore deleted tasks from a backup; see the topic Back up and restore your data.

Complete the task by clicking on the Complete button.  See the topic Complete and reopen tasks for more information on completing and reopening tasks.

Edit the description and number of the task.

Set a start date for the task.

Set a due date for the task.  If you enable Color tasks by due date on the Tree view tab of the ribbon bar, Tasklist will color the font of your tasks according to the due date:

Tasks due within the next week will be colored green

Tasks due today will be colored orange

Overdue tasks will be colored red.

Set a reminder date and time for the task.  See the topic Set a task reminder for more information on setting reminders.

Set a status for the task.  See the topic Set the task status for more information on setting the status of a task.
